Baxter Kindergarten and Children's Centre offers 3 and 4year old kindergarten programs and an extended care, activity group program called Explorers.
4 year old kindergarten program
This is a partially government funded program for children in the year before they go to school. Children must turn 4 years of age, prior to the 30th April, in the year of enrolment to attend. The primary goal of this program includes building social confidence, school readiness, early literacy and numeracy skills and of course, having fun! Each child attends for 15 hours per week.
3 year old kindergarten program
This program provides 3 year olds with an opportunity to attend kindergarten for 5 hours per week in the year before 4 year old kindergarten. The primary focus of the 3 year old program is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to commence social and play-based learning.
Explorers is a multi-age, activity group program that offers an extension on children’s kindergarten education. Explorers also provides parents/carers who require longer hours of early years learning and care due to work commitments with an opportunity to extend their kindergarten day and allow their child to experience the benefits of sessional kindergarten programs, instead of opting for kindergarten run through Long Day Care centres.
Explorers welcomes children aged 3 to 6 years. Preference is given to children who are enrolled in our kinder’s 3 and 4 year old programs, with places offered to others, subject to availability. Permanent enrolments are taken on a term-by-term basis. Casual enrolments can be accepted, subject to availability. The program is scheduled to start at the end of a selection of our kindergarten programs and runs until 5.00pm. Sessions for children who are not enrolled in our kindergarten programs commence at 1.30pm (Tuesday and Wednesday) and finish at 5pm.
